How to add text underneath your ask box

elleusine:

Since quite a few people have been asking about this, I thought I’d save us all some trouble and just post it up. Note that you will have to edit your theme’s HTML and this will require some basic knowledge of HTML/CSS/Javascript.

  1. Dashboard → Customize → Theme. Switch to Custom HTML if you’re not already using it.

  2. Scroll down to the very bottom of your theme, and right before </body>, paste this:

    <div id="ask_hide">
    <div id="ask">
    Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Duis faucibus auctor odio a venenatis. Ut at nibh quis augue rhoncus condimentum. Duis ut urna nec orci egestas mollis.
    </div>
    </div>

    Replace the filler text with whatever you wish to put there. If you would like a list of items:

    <div id="ask_hide">
    <div id="ask">
    <ul>
    <li>Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet.</li>
    <li>Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet.</li>
    <li>Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet.</li>
    </ul>
    </div>
    </div>

    If you would like a numbered list:

    <div id="ask_hide">
    <div id="ask">
    <ol>
    <li>Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet.</li>
    <li>Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet.</li>
    <li>Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet.</li>
    </ol>
    </div>
    </div>
  3. Right below that, paste this code:

    <script type="text/javascript">
       $('#ask_form').before($('#ask'));
    </script>
  4. Now scroll back up and look for </style>. Paste this right above it:

    #ask_hide #ask { display: none; }
  5. Click the Theme tab closed, wait for the page to completely reload, then press save. Whabam. It should work.

Hope that helps!

If you want to make it realistic: be sure to change your icon to this picture (dw about sizing it will fit) and make your blog title “Not Found.”
